Google releases AI text music generation tool MusicLM

Google has released an experimental AI text music generation tool, MusicLM, which can be tried out through its AI Test Kitchen application. Google first announced MusicLM earlier this year, after training the model on a dataset of 280,000 hours of music so that it could learn how to generate coherent songs from complex textual descriptions. At the time, Google did not offer open testing due to ethical concerns, but in the months since, the company has said that it has been working with musicians to answer questions about "how the technology can empower the creative process". The resulting open MusicLM version cannot generate music in the style of any particular artist or track.
