OpenAI has officially launched the Windows version of the ChatGPT app, now available for ChatGPT Plus, Teams, Enterprise, and Education users. The application is currently in early testing, with plans for a full-feature release later this year.
"The official ChatGPT desktop app allows users to engage with both text and image-based documents seamlessly. It integrates OpenAI's latest model optimizations, including access to our most advanced model, the OpenAI o1-preview."
The Windows version runs smoothly on most Windows 10 systems, though it does come with some limitations compared to other ChatGPT clients. At present, voice capabilities, including advanced voice mode, are not supported. Some integrations with the OpenAI GPT Store are also yet to be fully implemented.
Similar to the macOS version, the Windows ChatGPT app features a compact "assistant" mode, allowing users to minimize the app while working in parallel with other applications. It supports document and image uploads for content organization and includes access to OpenAI's DALL-E 3 image generator for creative projects.
